Five tips for the Fourth
Cody WY is famous for two things, our rodeo and our fourth of July festivities. From parades starting on the second to fireworks over the Shoshone River every minute of the week is packed with excitement. Lots of visitors come to Cody for this celebration and our town can start to feel crowded. Keeping this in mind here are some tips to have a stress-free Independence Day.
1. Come prepared
Some of my more easy-breezy friends like to leave the house with a wallet and phone and nothing else but I find that a well stocked backpack goes a long way. Aside from money, keys, and my cell, I try to have ample supplies for those "just in case" moments. Sunscreen is an essential for the fourth! I also like to have some light snacks, like granola bars or fruit gummies, wet wipes, sunglasses, and possibly a picnic blanket to set up in city park at the arts fest and enjoy my food truck lunch.
2. Exercise patience
As I mentioned earlier Cody can be a little crowded over the fourth, so my best advice is to stay patient. Main street will be blocked off for the parades and side streets will be packed with cars trying to park and floats trying to line up, while pedestrians will be milling across the sidewalks and parks. You will most likely get stuck behind someone, don't let it hinder your Independence day fun!
3. Stay Hydrated
This is a good tip for any traveler. Keep a water bottle nearby any please recycle when you're done!
I love wearing red white and blue on the fourth but my mom always taught me that your outfit should be comfy and functional too. On Independence day I suggest wearing a hat, and comfortable shoes and having a jacket with you for the evening (it can drop temperature after the suns sets).
5. Follow the rules
